Description
LA PALINA GOLDIE JULIETA CHURCHILL
The newest version of the La Palina Goldie will be a Churchill-esque size, measuring 7 x 48.
It’s called the La Palina Goldie Julieta, a 7 x 48 vitola that uses an Ecuadorian habano wrapper over an Ecuadorian binder and Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. Like the Goldies before it, the cigar will use medio tiempo tobaccos in the filler and a fantail cap.
Medio tiempo leaves are found on the highest parts of only some tobacco plants. For many years, most growers just classified medio tiempo as a ligero, though in recent years the name has become more prominent largely due to Habanos S.A.’s Cohiba Behike BHK.
The Goldie was introduced in 2012 and has become La Palina’s flagship release. It is rolled at El Titan de Bronze in Miami, originally rolled entirely by the late Maria Sierra.
The company has said the Julieta is limited to only 1,000 Boxes of 10 Cigars (10,000 Total Cigars).
The Goldie line is named for Goldie Drell Paley, the wife of Samuel Paley, who originally launched the La Palina brand in 1896 as part of the Congress Cigar Co. As for the vitola name, Julieta No.2 is the factory name—or vitola de galera—of the Cuban Churchill size, which measures 7 inches long with a 47 ring gauge.
