A.J. Fernandez and Jochy Blanco Collaborate on San Lotano Dominicano

Famed cigar makers A.J. Fernandez and José “Jochy” Blanco have teamed up for a special collaboration. The two cigar makers have created San Lotano Dominicano, a cigar that uses tobaccos grown by both Fernandez and Blanco.

The cigar is named after Fernandez’s San Lotano farm located in Nicaragua and also was one of Fernandez’s first cigar brands. San Lotano Dominicano marks the first time Fernandez has worked with a third-party company to make the San Lotano brand and the first time it’s been made outside of his Nicaraguan factory. To mark the special collaboration, the cigar includes a special band that bears the names “AJ & Jochy.”

San Lotano Dominicano has a Brazilian wrapper, Dominican binder and filler tobaccos from Nicaragua and Dominican tobaccos. The Dominican tobacco was grown by Blanco while the cigar’s Nicaraguan tobacco was grown by Fernandez.

News of this collaboration first came out in late 2018. The cigar was originally to be launched in January 2019 but was delayed to allow for the cigars to undergo additional aging to enhance the overall quality. This cigar was produced at Blanco’s Tabacalera Palma factory located in the Dominican Republic.
